Great show, quiet audience

Katy Perry gave it her last night at Rogers Arena before a sell-out crowd. She worked extra hard, not only because cameras were rolling to record an upcoming movie, but to try to draw out the fans who gave her very little in terms of energy and enthusiasm. While a great many under 10 were attending their first convert, the same must have been true for their parents who did not demonstrate the level of cheering, whistling and hand clapping that Katy deserved. At times, it was downright embarrassing. Katy would bring yet another number to a spectacular climax and lie literally panting on the stage only receive a brief (1or 2 second) response from the crowd and then...crickets. Most people pays hundreds to attend and I had to wonder what this was about. Could it be true that Vancouver doesn’t know how to have fun? Or are we so maxed out of the kind of kaleidoscopic input that Katy provides that we are no longer capable of being moved by it? Great job, Katy. Boo Vancouver. ... Read more
