Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella - The Musical Reviews
Many of those who will attend this great occasion do not realize the talent that lies in the music section of the play. One such universally known musician is violist Chauncey Patterson. Mr.
Patterson had risen through the ladder of prominence having played with The Montani String Quartet, Miami String Quartet and the Fine Arts Quartet. Chauncey Patterson combines his passion for
perfection, the true honesty of a classical viola performance and the sound of the rare valuable instrument Patterson acquired with money, luck and fate. Chauncey Patterson has an impressive art
college and career resume, however a little know fact exisits about his high school 'career'. Chauncey Patterson was the first black student body president in North Carolina in 1979. So when you
go to the Cinderella Musical, now you know about another special 'Cinderella Story' person playing his heart out in the orchestra pit.

MAGICAL ENRERTAIEMT
A magical and dynamic entertainment for all ages. Beautifully
choreographed and cleverly staged, but that might have needed children
included in the production since so many children were part of the audience.

This show was wonderful! My daughter, daughter in
law and 4 year old granddaughter, loved it!
The Rogers and Hammerstein version is my favorite.
Thank you for bringing it to Indy! đź‘‘

EXHILARATING PRODUCTION!
Loved it! Took my daughter and granddaughter for what turned out to be a delightful
afternoon. I had re-watched the Lesley Ann Warren TV production and cringed at some
of the scenes. This stage version was smartly updated with the emphasis on kindness,
empathy and forgiveness -- the characteristics I am eager to instill in my grandchildren.
Thank you!

CINDERELLA AT TUACAHN
Not sure I understand your reviewing system since none of these reviews seem to be of the production at
Tuacahn - which is wonderful. Beautiful sets, costumes, wonderful orchestra, and extremely talented cast.
Gorgeous vocals, lovely dancing, great acting. Absolutely loved it and so did everyone else sitting around me.
The new version does have a political edge to it. But what’s wrong with an endorsement of kindness and
female agency? Most definitely take the kids. There’s magic in the air.

ALL ART IS POLITICAL
I am getting tired of people who can't abide social issues in entertainment. Rodgers and Hammerstein tackled racism in South Pacific and spousal abuse in Showboat. Stop being such snowflakes

NOW, THIS IS A MUSICAL!!!
Loved it! Sure, it's an extremely predictable story with a few modernizing and awkward twists. Get over it. The lead has a fabulous voice and can dance. She seemed a bit tense at first but she
grows on you. The male lead was terrific. The nasty stepmom showed precision in every move and statement. The fairy godmother entertained with an impressive Wagnerian presence. The
supporting cast was perfect and displayed a sense of fun that keeps you engaged. The dancing and gowns were lavish but Cinderella's gowns and changes were amazing. The coach, well, the coach,
the coach, the coach was wonderful.
You will watch poor Cinderella waltzing through "My Own Little Corner..." and "Ten Minutes Ago..." and wonder why you're so concerned, inspired, and heartbroken over a dumb fairly tale that you
know will end well.
What voices! The orchestra was every bit as good as the voices. The show was superbly entertaining. You'll be transported to a fairy tale.
Freda Mane from St George, Utah and Miami Florida
NICE, BUT.......
The sets and effects were fabulous, voices were very good. But they
messed so much with the story that it lacked continuity.
“If it ain’t broke - don’t fix it”. Why they need political commentary and
lectures to the audience Is a mystery. Other odd additions: a step
sister and Cinderella are secret BFFs - spare me.
I have never been disappointed at Tuachan In 12 years, but I was last
night.

CINDERELLA SAN ANTONIO
While the staging was superior, the acting and singing voices were mediocre. I also did
not like taking away from the well-known fairy tale love story by interjecting the
"political "we must-save-the -world aspect". I was disappointed.

PRETTY SETS, BAD ACTING
My mother took my sister and I to watch this. I expected very high quality after watching Les Mis at
the PAC, but I was extremely disappointed.
To start with the good: the seats provided an great view, the costumes were a little cheap looking, but
otherwise a visual feast, the sets were gorgeous.
Onto the not so good: the acting was awful and most of the singing was average. Only the characters
of Lord Pinkleton and Sebastian connected with their characters. (Bravo to Lord Pinkleton for his
amazing voice) Cinderella had no likeable characteristics and sang very metallicly. Prince Topher was
an idiot more than he was anything else and the few places his singing soared were overshadowed by
parts his voice wasn't made for. Both of the lead actors, along with most of the others, were trying too
hard to act and made the funny lines dorky. Throughout the duration of the play, I never rooted for
the characters.
The play's charm was stolen by the actors' deficiencies, wouldn't recommend.

SOMEWHAT DISAPPOINTING
I was so excited to take my granddaughter along with 3 other family members to see the show, but changing the story line was confusing for the young ones. Having political overtones is completely not necessary and what is wrong with giving the audience what they expect. Would Rogers and Hammerstein been happy with those changes? I would have enjoyed it so much more if they kept to the original play’s storyline.
Singing was excellent and costumes were beautiful. Scenery was outstanding and costume changes were magic! Just cut out the politics. Don’t we get enough of that on a daily basis. People have to relax!
Louise from Riverside, California
COSTUME CHANGES GREAT-POLITICS NOT SO MUCH
Was hoping for a wonderful girls night with my daughter and sisters.
Was treated to an “updated” program of political commentary.
Peppered with a few of the original songs. The fairy godmother had a
nice voice, the rest of the cast was so-so. I would not recommend this
show.

CINDERELLA
Sorry - but I was truly hoping for the magical Cinderella I remembered as a child.
And I wanted my children to experience the same. Plenty of time for them to worry
about "one person, one vote" and electing a Prime Minister to represent the
oppressed people. Why does everything have to be "updated" to massage the
sensibilities of someone who fancies themselves more talented than the masters?
Can we just let our kids be kids for a couple more hours? It ruined the magic for me,
even though the cast was wonderfully talented. Perhaps the writer will have a go at
Romeo & Juliet next and cut out the suicide scene. They could perish in a tragic
balcony accident and the Monteque and Capulet families can find common ground
creating a Department of Building & Safety. At least I had an aisle seat and could
slip out early. Positive notes - the dancing was also lovely and the costumes were
very pretty. Let's just leave our hands off the book from now on, shall we?

DISAPPOINTED
My 25 year old daughter and I attended the show. R&H Cinderella was the first
musical I took my daughter to 20 years ago, We've seen it several times since then.
And although we enjoyed the singing, dancing and acting of the show this time, we
were very disappointed that the show did not follow the classic story telling. Adding
a political aspect to the story made it less entertaining and enjoyable - if we wanted
to hear about politics, we would have stayed home and watched CNN and Fox News
rather than coming to see Cinderella.
Chris from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
STRANGE
This is a show for children - it ran 2 1/2 hours long - primarily due to a "new" scene
someone inserted in the show. Cinderella doesn't lose her glass slipper running from the
ball - no - she picks it up and runs away with it. Later - the prince holds a banquet - and
running from the banquet she loses her shoe (finally).
Voices were very weak.
Sets were very nice and the costume changes we're remarkable.
Beth Verrillo from Syracuse, New York
CINDERELLA
High school level talent at best. 6 family members from ages 7 to 88 attended this performance and were disappointed. Basic chemistry was lacking, songs were mostly boring. Even the stage props were amateur. One bright spot was the effortless costume changes but certainly not enough to offset the performance as a whole
Janet from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
NOT YOUR MOTHERS CINDERELLA
If the title says Cinderella you should get to experience the fantasy of Cinderella. I felt like I had been thrust into another political arena without my permission. The children in the audience were confused when she picked up her shoe and took it with her ....wait a minute so was this adult.
Carol Woodcock from Santa Ana
CINDERELLA REVISED
I loved the music . The fairy Godmother was Amazing. However I was disappointed in the story. Cinderella didn't leave her glass slipper which changed the whole story with the prince looking for the girl who fits the glass slipper. The banquet was different. I really thought this production was going to be good. I did like the fairygodmother singing the Whitney Houston song from Cinderella with Brandi.
Jennifer Dolan from Boston, Massachusetts
NOT CINDERELLA-A POLITICAL AGENDA AT LARGE
We were extremely disappointed in this
production. This is not the classic Cinderella in
any manner. Why do we have to change an
original story to fit the liberal agenda? If
someone is going to be offended by Cinderella
there are clearly way larger problems. This play
completely ruined what should have been an
endearing story. It is sad that this play has
conformed to a political and social agenda, if
the story wasn’t broken, don’t try to fix it.
